Same for another system I built 3+ years ago with a budget motherboard in it. I have a 3+ year old custom build desktop and my ASRock motherboard already had TPM support in it. That provides the TPM 2.0 support for Windows 11.īecause Microsoft has been telling motherboard and system makers for many years about the TPM requirements of Windows 11 (long before Windows 11 arrived), it's been baked into most motherboards for several years now. Intel® PTT supports BitLocker* for hard drive encryption and supports all Microsoft requirements for firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM) 2.0. Intel® Platform Trust Technology (Intel® PTT) is a platform functionality for credential storage and key management used by Windows 8* and Windows® 10.

Note that your motherboard lists Windows 11 compatible in the marketing materials which it could not do if it needed additional hardware in order to install Windows 11 on it.Īnd, in the doc for the Z790 chipset, it specifically lists "Intel® Platform Trust Technology (Intel® PTT)" which is described as this: Your Z790 motherboard will already be TPM compliant. PS, this will be my new Photoshop machine so I thought it appropriate to this forum. Any advice or recommendations regarding this m/b, WIndows 11 and TPM? Will I have any issues with TPM compatibility when I try to install Windows 11 Home on this m/b? CPU will be i7-13700K. I had assumed that the Z790-E, being a new product from ASUS, was compliant with the Windows 11 requirements. I have also read that any recent purchases of new PCs will most likely be TPM compliant and therefore should have no trouble installing Windows 11. I see several Google hits discussing purchase and installation of a TPM module and whether the motherboard has an appropriate attachment point for that module. I did a quick search on the ASUS website but could not find any about the Z790-E and TPM compatibility. I was researching what might be involved with the Windows 11 install and I noticed several references to a TPM 2.0 requirement. I have most of the components now, just waiting on the case. I have purchased a Windows 11 Home USB kit. I am about to embark on a new build with an ASUS ROG STRIX Z790-E motherboard (m/b). I have never installed Windows 11 nor do I know anything about TPM.
